History Major - Business Minor
The history major and business minor combination prepares you for graduate studies and a career in business.
Preparing You For Success
You explore the past to sharpen your analysis of the present and future. Small classes in the department foster intellectually challenging conversations with faculty mentors and classmates. Additionally, you take business courses that prepare you to pursue an MBA.
By the time you graduate, your experiences include:
- Foundational and advanced courses in U.S., European and world history
- Cross-cultural courses or experiences such as study abroad or an international internship
- Business courses that introduce you to business and financial career options
- Research opportunities with faculty
- Networking and career development through History Club and Phi Alpha Theta honor society
Making Your Mark
History graduates are active in editing and publishing, foreign service, government, international business, media, nonprofits and education. Recent graduates also have pursued graduate degrees in business, history, archaeology, geography, law, library studies, museum studies, religious studies and world languages.

- ATG 158: Accounting Principles - Cost Management - 3 hrs.
- ECO 100: Introduction to Economics - 3 hrs.
or ECO 221: Principles of Microeconomics - 3 hrs. - ECO 222: Principles of Macroeconomics - 3 hrs.
- QM 262: Quantitative Analysis I - 3 hrs.
- FIN 322: Business Finance - 3 hrs.
- MIS 173: Information Systems and Business Applications - 3 hrs.
- BLW 342: Legal Environment of Business - 3 hrs.
- M L 350: Managing for Results in Organizations - 2 hrs.
- MTG 315: Principles of Marketing - 3 hrs.
Note: Students for the minor should also complete MTH 115. The dean of the Foster College of Business must approve students for the minor.
