Civil Engineering
If you want to be a leader in building and maintaining sustainable infrastructure for society, then a civil engineering major may be a perfect fit. In addition to a broad technical background, Bradley’s program will prepare you for career opportunities in structures, water resources, environmental engineering, transportation, highway and pavement design, and geotechnical engineering.
Preparing You For Success
You build a strong background in math, natural sciences, engineering and leadership while exploring structures, water resources, environmental engineering, transportation design and other related fields. The degree concludes with a yearlong senior design project working on a real project and mentored by experienced civil engineering professors and industry partners. A minor in construction management is also available.
By the time you graduate, your experiences may include:
- Faculty-mentored research to present at national and international conferences
- Unique opportunities to meet and network with professionals through seminars and other events
- Professional development and community engagement with organizations such as Bridge-Pal, Habitat for Humanity and Illinois River Sweep
- Opportunities to test your skills against other college engineering students at national events such as the annual American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) concrete canoe and steel bridge competition
- Internships from our strong partnerships with industry leaders from around the world.
Making Your Mark
A civil engineering degree is valuable for positions at regional, national and international engineering and consulting firms and governmental organizations. In recent years, almost all of Bradley civil engineering majors found jobs with nationally competitive starting salaries. Other students pursue graduate studies in various areas of civil engineering or an advanced degree in law and business.
Accreditation
Bradley's civil engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org.
