Bradley University’s Instructional Design for Healthcare Certificate is designed for professionals who want to support and improve learning in their organizations, or for individuals who simply want to better manage their own learning. Under the expert guidance of Bradley’s faculty, you’ll walk away with new tools and skills to help you improve your instructional delivery and methods.
The Instructional Design for Healthcare Certificate consists of three modules, focused on the following topics:
The Instructional Design for Healthcare Certificate integrates engaging videos and lessons on your own time, 1:1 scheduled interactions with Dr. Dakota Horn, and a scaffolded project throughout the 15 weeks that will result in a completed design blueprint for real-world use.
Dr. Dakota Horn is an Instructor of Communication focusing on introductory communication courses. He is the Course Director of COM103, the oral communication process course required of all Bradley students. His education involves communication and education studies with a Bachelors and Masters in communication from Western Illinois University and a Doctorate in Teaching and Learning from Illinois State University. His research interests include communication pedagogy, instructional communication, instructional clarity, and other education related communication.
He has published research on humor, storytelling, accessibility in online education, general education initiatives, and K-12 education. He has presented research on all of this as well as communication anxiety, teaching activities, and civic engagement initiatives at conferences including the National Communication Association, Central States Communication Association, International Association of Media and Communication Research and the National Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement conference.
His current research initiatives include teacher/student relationships that increase clarity and decrease anxiety as well as supporting student learning.
Continuing Education staff is available during weekday hours (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. CST) for one-on-one support for technical and administrative challenges.
After successfully completing all three modules and project, you’ll earn a digital certificate and badge from Bradley University that you can display on your resume, social media sites, and LinkedIn page. These digital documents include detailed metadata that you can show your current or future employer to help you advance in your career.
To complete this certificate, you’ll need a current email account, access to a computer, reliable internet access (preferably 2mbps downloads or faster), preferably using Google Chrome as your internet browser.
