Speakers

Cory Robinson, Business Solutions Architect, Caterpillar Inc.; Cyber Operations Technician, Army National Guard

Cory is a cybersecurity expert whose journey started with hacking games and modifying software in Windows in the early 2000s. After getting banned from games and struggling with school, he decided to join the military in 2006, leaving the cyber world behind for a while. He served as an All-Source Intelligence Analyst and deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 as an Aerial Sensor Operator. Eventually, Cory rekindled his interest in tech, starting with hosting game servers, websites, and web forums. This led him to complete a BA in Mathematics in 2018 and dive headfirst into data engineering and analytics. Not long after, he had the chance to pivot to cybersecurity in a Cyber Protection Team, applying his skills in advanced analytics, systems, and threat intelligence. He went on to earn a MS in Data Analytics, specializing in Deep Learning for Malicious Network Traffic Detection. As a member of a Cyber Protection Team, Cory has mentored peers on threat intelligence, advised senior leaders at US Cyber Command on operations research, and taught cybersecurity defenders with UN partners. His skills have enabled him to design and code complex applications and systems that drive critical business processes at his current civilian employer.
