Biographical Sketch/Short CV

Many Federal funding agencies require the submission of a Biographical Sketch (aka biosketch) or a Short CV. These documents include information related to the applicant’s education, work experience, and prior research/creative works. Many agencies recommend or require the use of SciENcv for preparing biosketches. The National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health have specific templates that must be used, and the use of SciENcv will ensure compliance (Please Note:  After October 22, 2023, the NSF will only accept biosketches and current and pending forms that were created using SciENcv.) For other agencies, please see the appropriate proposal guides for information about their requirements (e.g., NASA, Department of Education/Institute of Education Sciences (IES), National Endowment for the Humanities, etc.)
